This Leadership Award honors teachers who go beyond the classroom walls to encourage family and community involvement in arts education. The award also recognizes significant achievement in the area of technology integration within the school arts program. State rankings are based on specific criteria which demonstrate both aspects of the Leadership Award.
During the 2013-2014 school year, the Libby Center Artsonia gallery showcased 937 pieces of artwork. This popular collection of art has been visited more than 7501 times and has received 72 comments from friends and family. “Artsonia is a simple yet effective way to get parents and family members more involved in Art Education,” said Moore, “and my students love it!”
Family members can purchase keepsakes imprinted with student artwork. Artsonia donates 20 percent of their annual product revenue back to the school art program. As of September 2014, purchases made from the Odyssey student gallery have earned $454.40! Mrs. Moore plans to put these earnings toward a slab roller for clay projects in Odyssey art classes. A complete slab roller package runs approximately $1000.
